iBooks Author To add audio or video to your book as a Media widget, perform one of these actions: Drag video from the Media Browser or Finder into your book.
Add a Media widget from the Widgets item in the toolbar, then drag your media into the widget.
Use these audio and video formats for Media widgets in iBooks Author: Only H.264 video (.m4v)
Only AAC audio (.m4a) audio in movies or standalone audio files
Note: Video and audio media in Media widgets are DRM protected when submitted to the iBookstore.
If you try to add an unsupported media type to a book, you may receive the warning, “The media file [filename] wasn’t added. The file is in an unsupported format.” QuickTime Player 10.1 or later is the easiest way to create a compatible movie or audio file. For movies: Open the movie in QuickTime Player 10.1 or later.
From the File menu, choose Export.
Choose one of the following:
"iPod touch & iPhone 3GS." This creates up to a 420p movie.
"iPad, iPhone 4 & Apple TV." This creates up to a 720p movie.
Click Export.
For audio: Open the audio file in QuickTime Player 10.1 or later.
From the File menu, choose Export.
Make sure Format is set to "Audio Only."
Click Export.
You can also include audio and video in HTML widgets. For video, you should use an .mp4 file extension.
For audio, use files with an .m4a file extension.
You cannot use media that has .m4v or .m4p file extensions. Note: Video and audio media in HTML Dashboard files are not DRM protected
When you use audio and video included in a Keynote widget, the Keynote HTML export process transcodes any video and audio in the presentation to H.264 (.m4v) movies.
